Rear-Wheel Steering Being Offered on More Vehicles

Rear-Wheel Steering Being Offered on More Vehicles

The application of steering that can be accomplished with all four wheels, especially the rear ones, has been considered a gimmick in the past. This feature showed up in the 1990s and faded from the market for a while to be revived recently. This feature, now with the application that can be controlled via computers, is now a sophisticated way to drive and makes it easier for you to handle the corners and curves that are in the areas where you could be driving. With that in mind, here are some of the models you’ll find that do offer you this type of steering.

Rear-Wheel Sports Cars

Ferrari

The prancing pony brand offers us two models that offer rear-steering which are the GTC4Lusso and the 812 Superfast. The second model makes use of an entirely electric power steering to make it possible for you to have the quickest and tightest turning radius on the track.

Lamborghini

Both of the models of the Aventador offer the four-wheel steering that you want to enjoy in order to turn with a smaller radius which makes a longer wheelbase car turn like one that has a shorter distance from the front the rear wheels. Imagine the fun of a bull that can rip through the corners.

More Sports Cars

Lexus offers this feature in the LC 500 with the Performance package, the RC 350 F Sport, while Mercedes-AMG has this system offered on the AMG GT in both the R and C trims. We also see rear-wheel steering in many of the Porsche 911 models that we can choose to drive.

Big Sedans

Four-wheel steering is great for large sedans that have a longer wheelbase. The idea is to reduce the turning radius of a vehicle at lower speeds and make smoother transitions on the highway. The Acura TLX and RLX both have the Precision All-Wheel Steer system included, while the Audi models that offer this feature are the A6, A7, and A8 sedans. BMW offers four-wheel steering for the 5 Series and the 7 Series sedans and the Lexus team brings it to you in the F Sport versions of the GS sedan and the LS 500. Cadillac makes this feature available in the CT6 while the Porsche Panamera can also be had with this steering system.

A Few SUVs to Name

There are only a few SUV models that are offered with the benefit of four-wheel steering to give us the smooth drive. These models are the Audi Q7, the Lamborghini Urus, and the Porsche Cayenne. You’ll also find this technology in the new BMW X5 that’s hitting the market for the 2019 model year as part of the new off-road package.

This Feature Will Grow

It wasn’t long ago that four-wheel steering first became part of the automotive market, but as this technology becomes less expensive to install on vehicles, it will become more prevalent in the market. This is the perfect feature that can be added to the market for the larger vehicles and we may see it in our pickup trucks pretty soon.
