A Truly American Electric Vehicle Will Arrive at Your Ford Dealer

Dearborn, Michigan, is where the latest electric vehicle is being made that will soon be shipped to a Ford dealer near you. This new electric vehicle is the F-150 Lightning which will be an incredible pickup truck that just might change the way many view trucks and what they can do.

The plant and assembly line is almost done being assembled, and then it’s time to build these incredible trucks.

Everything You Want in an American Truck

The Ford F-150 Lightning has received the Presidential seal of approval after a visit to the Dearborn plant by President Biden in May of this year. What is it we want in a truck? For many, we want it to be American, we want a name we recognize, and we certainly admire a truck that the current President supports. All of these things are true of the new Lightning.

A New Look in the Truck You Love

Once it arrives at the local Ford dealer, you can see this truck for yourself, but until then, we can discuss what you’ll find. The F-150 Lightning will stand out in the lineup of F-150 models. It will feature a closed-off grille and a light bar across the front that connect to the headlights. The size is about the same as other models, but the design gives the truck a more aerodynamic quality.

Quickness Found in an Excellent Truck

If you’ve been looking for a truck that can accelerate and show off on the road, or if you simply want to get out in front of traffic when you enter the highway, this is the truck for you. It’s not a secret that electric vehicles accelerate faster than gasoline models because of the immediate delivery of torque. The Lightning is aptly named and can reach sixty mph in only 4.4 seconds, which is extremely fast for a truck.

Fleet Managers Could Add the F-150 Lightning to the Mix

One of the main selling points of this electric truck for fleet managers is that it can be fully charged overnight. All that’s needed will be either a 48 or 80-amp charger to allow this Ford to be charged with a Level 2 AC plug. This system can be used for private customers as well, but a fleet manager can have a full fleet of F-150 trucks ready to hit the road every morning. Your local Ford dealer will have more details as this truck becomes available.

Room in the Front

Typically, you don’t expect a truck to offer you cargo space under the hood. Because the Ford F-150 Lightning is an electric truck, you’ll have the first-ever Ford Mega Power Frunk that can be ideal for you to carry some items.

This area resides under the hood and gives you 14.1 cubic feet of lockable, water-tight storage that can carry up to 400 pounds. This might be the right place for some tools that you’ll use at the job site.

Two Battery Ranges Will be Offered

Once this new Ford truck begins to leave the Dearborn, MI area on its way to your nearby Ford dealer, it will be equipped with one of two batteries and ranges for your drive. The standard range gives you a 115-kWh battery that can give you 230 miles of driving on a single charge. If you opt for the extended range battery pack, you’ll have a 155-kWh battery that can return 300 miles of driving range every day.

Which setup will be right for you?

More than Just Range to Discuss

Because the Ford F-150 Lightning is a truck, we need to talk about driving range and battery power, and the towing and hauling capability of this truck. The standard range models will give you 426 horsepower and 775 lb.-ft. Of torque, which is enough to handle 2,000 pounds of payload and up to 5,000 pounds of towing. This can be increased to 7,700 pounds with the Max Trailer Tow Package.

If you select the extended-range model, you’ll have 563 horsepower and the same torque as the standard model. This gives you towing that is increased to 10,000 pounds if you add the Max Trailer Tow Package to the mix.

As the Ford plant in Dearborn, MI is finishing the work to create the Ford F-150 Lightning assembly line; your local Ford dealer is preparing for deliveries. Get ready to experience an amazing electric American truck that just might change the way you think about electric vehicles forever.
