Take a Hike (or Several)

Hiking is one of the best ways to enjoy mother nature at its finest. No matter where you live, you’re bound to find a hiking trail to explore.

If you’re lucky enough to live near a national park, there are plenty of trails just waiting to be explored. For others, visiting your local park and exploring hiking and walking trails can be just as fun. Grab your friends and family and get out as you enjoy the outdoors.

Join a Summer Sports League

Get active this summer by joining a sports team in your local community. Many communities have a rec center that hosts summer sports teams for individuals of all ages. You can try your hand at a sport you love or take on a new sport altogether. Either way, you’re bound to have plenty of fun and make some great friends along the way.

If you’re not ready for the commitment, be sure to keep a lookout for pickup games throughout your community. This is a great way to interact with your neighbors without having to feel like your schedule is tied up with a weekly sports meeting.

Start a Garden

You don’t have to have a green thumb to enjoy this next hobby, but it’s certainly helpful! Gardening can be a great way to get outdoors as you enjoy the magic of your own home and quality time with your loved ones. There are plenty of ways to get into gardening.

You can start by planting different cut flower varieties to grow so that you can bring the blooms into your home once they flower. Planning and building out a vegetable garden is another practical and fun way to experience nature at its best. Easy-to-grow varieties like tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, and squash are all great vegetables to try your hand at. Mint, rosemary, celery, and lettuce are other great veggies and herbs to play around with too.

Take up Boating

If you are lucky enough to live near a waterway, then boating is a great hobby to develop. Boating opens up the door to other avenues of exploration including traveling to areas of your hometown you could not explore otherwise.

Enjoy fishing and the feel of going on a mini vacation every time you get on your boat. Whether you shop around for a pontoon or a kayak, you’ll need a truck to tow it. Make your way to your local Chevy or Ford dealership to get one!

Plan a Summer Getaway

Summertime was made for vacations. So what better time to plan a getaway than during the warm summer months? When you’re planning a getaway, it doesn’t have to be an extravagant one, but it certainly can be. If you want to stay local, start small by planning a getaway in your own hometown. Plan a weekend trip to a local inn or Bed and Breakfast and fall in love with the charm of your own city.

Of course, if you want to go big, check out popular destinations throughout the U.S. including the national parks and wilderness-centered states like Montana, Wyoming, and Arizona. There are so many great gems across the U.S. to explore, and the summertime is the perfect time to do this.
