The initial news that the new Buick Envista would not be available at Buick dealer locations in the U.S. and would only exist for the Chinese market was disappointing to American shoppers. This new crossover is popular all across China and certainly has potential in North America. That’s why General Motors is having serious discussions about bringing it stateside in the near future.
Read on to learn more about how this new ride could be available at your favorite Buick dealer soon.
What We Know So Far
The 2022 Buick Envista is an impressive small crossover that comes in three trims. It’s powered by a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine (181 horsepower) paired with a CVT. Inside, the Envista has two 10.3-inch screens built into the dashboard. One is a digital gauge cluster that provides information about your trip. The other is the touchscreen infotainment center with features like wireless Apple CarPlay, over-the-air updates, and a stellar surround-sound audio system.
Based on current exchange rates, the Envista starts with an equivalent MSRP of $22,000. That makes this SUV one of the most affordable vehicles in GM’s luxury brand.
Crossover Coupe
One of the most distinguishing features of the Envista is that it combines the capability and spaciousness of an SUV with the handling, style, and sloping rear of a coupe. SUV coupes are becoming more popular in the luxury crossover market.
The Envista has sharply angled, slim headlights and a low-mounted grille. It has a large cargo area that slightly resembles a hatchback but still offers the riding height and overall look of an SUV. The final result is pure sophistication.
A Replacement for the Encore?
Buick enthusiasts have noticed for some time that the infamous Buick Encore has lost some steam over the last couple of years. While the Encore continues to be a formattable vehicle, this SUV is now only available in one trim. Most fans of this brand expect the Encore GX to take over the place of the regular Encore.
The Buick Encore GX is a relatively new addition to your favorite Buick dealer. Overall, the GX is a larger and more luxurious SUV, which means it also comes with a higher price tag. While the GX is an incredible rig, it may not be the perfect replacement for the Encore.
The Envista, however, could be the perfect option for drivers who want an affordable luxury SUV from this popular American brand. The Envista is a bit larger than the Encore GX but is smaller than the Buick Envision.
Only Time Will Tell
As of right now, there is no confirmation that Buick will bring the Envista to the United States. There are rumors that Buick’s leadership is considering the option. With the eventual discontinuation of the Encore, the Envista would make a welcome addition to your local Buick dealer.
