Mason Ridge State Forest sits within the Morgan-Monroe State Forest not far from Martinsville, Indiana. There is lots of space in this area and 19 different sites for camping of any kind. It’s free to camp here, but you have to register at the local forest office. Each of the camp sites has a picnic table, fire pit, and lots of dry tree branches for making your fire.

While you are at Mason Ridge, make sure to check out the hiking trails and the two lakes where you may have some luck fishing.

Buzzard Roost Recreation Area

Take a drive to Buzzard Roost Recreation Area in Magnet, Indiana. It’s the perfect spot if you like car camping near water. This place offers a ton of activities, including fishing and hiking. If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of life in the city, pack up your car and head here.

A short hiking trail will take you through a beautiful forest area, and there’s even a small waterfall at the end of the trail. The campsites are flat with plenty of space, and you’ll even have a fire ring and picnic tables.

Ouabache Park Campground

Ouabache Park Campground in Attica, Indiana, sits along the Wabash River and is ideal for car camping. This scenic area is perfect for photography lovers because of its beautiful vistas. The padding at the campsites is grass, and each site has plenty of space for you to park the car and set up your chairs or even a tent if you want to sleep on the ground.

The campground has a lot to offer, from picnic tables to fire rings and restrooms. There is potable water, too. As far as activities go, you can spend your time here enjoying the water whether it’s fishing or boating.
