Power Rankings Shake-Up in the NBA for Week 10

Power Rankings Shake-Up in the NBA for Week 10

Ten weeks have gone by in the NBA season and we’re seeing some teams rise to the top of the power rankings while others are falling quickly.

As we prepare for the All-Star Game and a short break in this season, some of the teams that we expect to be near the top are struggling to be ranked as high as we would like to see them. Let’s take a look.

The Utah Jazz Stay at the Top

The top team in the power rankings is still the Utah Jazz. After ten weeks, they carry a strong 24-6 record and seem to be unstoppable on the court. A recent loss to the Clippers might be a bit of a wake-up call for this team who has been in the midst of a dream season. That jolt to their record may spell doom for other teams in the NBA.

The Los Angeles Clippers Climb One Spot in the Power Rankings

After a rough week with three players out for injuries, the Clippers find themselves back at full strength on the way to a 22-10 record that puts them in the runner-up spot in these rankings. If this team can keep their stars healthy and bring some mental toughness to the playoffs, they are going to be hard to beat.

Falling to Third is the Los Angeles Lakers

We expect the Lakers to be at the top of the power rankings every week, but the injury to Anthony Davis has put him out for several weeks and created a bit of trouble for the Lakers. While the record at 22-9 after ten weeks is a little better than the Clippers, the loss of Davis will create trouble for this team until his return.

A Big Jump in the Power Rankings for the Brooklyn Nets

Last week, the nets were ranked seventh in the NBA, but now they have jumped to fourth. The return of defense to go along with a strong offensive push brings this team to a 20-12 record after ten weeks. Sneakily, the Nets are a team that continues to play hard against some of the top teams in the league to show they are a tough team to beat.

The Phoenix Suns Hold Onto the Fifth Spot

Not moving one way or the other, the Phoenix Suns are still in the fifth position of the power rankings. After ten weeks, this team holds a 19-10 record and has a relatively easy schedule this upcoming week which might help them move up to a higher ranking after the next week. We’ll have to wait and see what their record is next week.

The Philadelphia 76ers Move Down in the Power Rankings

Dropping from fourth to sixth in the list, the 76ers but their 20-11 record might not be the story here. Ben Simmons has found his scoring stride and when this team is at full strength, they will give any team in the NBA a hard time. You can expect to see this team make a strong push through the playoffs and might be the team standing for the East at the end.

Another Downward Mover was the Milwaukee Bucks

The Bucks dropped one spot to seventh in the power rankings for the NBA. It took a while for them to stop the downward spiral that was five games long, but a win over Oklahoma City finally snapped a bad streak. This team brings an 18-13 record out of week ten to be one of the top teams that should be able to make a move upward again soon.

Moving Into Eighth is the Portland Trailblazers

Portland moves upward from the ninth spot to eight in the NBA power rankings with a strong 18-11 record and several clutch performances by Damian Lillard. While there might not be many other players on this team to note right now, this team is on an upward swing and could be a tough team to play down the stretch of the season.
