Were you planning a vacation in Sweden when the pandemic struck? Now, you can book your travel plans and head to Sweden for some fun.

As of April 1, 2022, Sweden has lifted all travel bans related to COVID-19. They no longer classify this virus as a serious threat to public health because of the number of people immunized and the fewer new cases each day. Those traveling to this country will need to show proof of a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours or proof of vaccination. Now that you can travel to Sweden again, what do you want to see? Here are some suggestions.

Check Out the Marine Life at Kosterhavet National Park

This park lies along the coastline, which does encompass much of Sweden. What makes the Kosterhavet National Park special is that you can observe some unique marine life in a protected area. This is the first marine national park in the country, and it offers more than 6,000 species living in the waters along the coast. Bring your snorkeling or diving gear and get up close and personal with some of the creatures call this park home.

You’ve got to Visit Stockholm When in Sweden

Your travel time in Sweden will not feel complete if you don’t visit Stockholm. This city is the capital of the Scandinavia nations, and it’s one of the most unique and attractive places to stay in the world. It’s easy to admire the combination of ancient history, tradition, scenery, architecture, and progressive nature of the city. Stockholm takes pride in the fact that it is a clean city with clear water, fresh air, and lots of greenery, even though it’s a large metropolitan area.

There’s a Lot to Do in Gothenburg

You might not know about Gothenburg, but Sweden’s second-largest city can be a fascinating place to visit. This city uses its old space to reinvent itself into a thriving area with upscale restaurants, art galleries, and lively streets. The nightlife is active and fun, the neighborhoods are gorgeous, and nearby parks make this an excellent place for you to go. There’s even the Liseberg Amusement Park, where you can feel like a kid again.

Ystad Offers Some Interesting Activities

Some famous books take place in the city of Ystad, but if you haven’t read them, this city is still more than worthy of a tour. If you’ve read the books by Henning Mankell, you’ll immediately fall in love with this exciting city. Ystad is an incredible city to tour on your own, giving you fantastic architecture, old wooden buildings, quaint cafes, and boutiques that offer items you’ll want to buy. This lovely little town can help you relax while exploring what it offers for your amusement.

The History of Marstrand is Something to Behold

During your travel to Sweden, you must see the city of Marstrand. This city by the bay has been around since 1200, which tells you it’s old and has a lot of history. Marstrand is well-known for sailing and an ancient fortress. Sit by the sea and relax while watching the gorgeous sailboats come into the bay or visit the Carlsten Fortress, a massive stone structure to guard the city against harm. Park your car and walk; this is a city filled with fantastic photo opportunities.

Head to the Wilderness of the Swedish Lapland

It’s more than worth the time and cost to rent some camping gear and spend a couple of nights during your travel time in Sweden in the Swedish Lapland. This is the country’s actual wilderness area, and you’ll see the northern lights as long as you visit from late autumn to early spring. This area is worth your time and efforts with the many animals exploring this wilderness.

Another Beautiful Northern Area is Abisko

If you want to see the Aurora Borealis but don’t want to spend your nights in the wilderness, head to Abisko. This town is in the northern part of the Arctic circle, and it’s a small Swedish town that offers you the fantastic sky views you’ll remember for the rest of your life. The winter is when you’ll see the green and blue of this natural wonder, but if you go to this town in the summer, you’ll witness the midnight sun, something people from other parts of the world rarely ever see.

Vadstena was Home to the Royal Family

When you travel to Sweden, you’re in an area where royals did rule at one time. Vadstena was home to the Swedish royal family and many relics from that time remain in the Vadstena Castle. This castle dates back to the 16thcentury and features an old school moat that protected the court from intruders. A gorgeous abbey in the city dates back to the 14thcentury, giving you another historical item to put on your travel list.

Old Meets New in Malmo

You’ll find historic architecture from many centuries ago sitting beside modern contemporary buildings in Malmo. This is the third-largest city in Sweden, and it offers a lot of fun and activity for you to enjoy everything Sweden has to offer. There’s a castle in the Old Town section of the city and 150 different ethnicities linked to the Oresund Bridge that crosses to Denmark. There’s a lot to do and see in a town that does a masterful job of blending old and new.

Check Out the Stockholm Archipelago

The Stockholm Archipelago is an excellent region, but it seems to be a well-kept secret. This area is made of more than 30,000 islands, with only about 1,000 inhabited. You can take a boat to some of the islands and spend the day exploring during your time in Stockholm. The ships traveling the waters date back more than a century and use steam power, which is just one more item that makes Sweden one of the most incredible countries you can travel to during your vacation.
