What are these odd metal monoliths that have appeared in various locations? If you watched Marvel: Agents of Shield, you might remember these items appearing in some odd places during the show. Are these mysterious monoliths something from another planet, or are they being installed overnight in strategic locations as promotional tools for futuristic items, such as cryptocurrency?
Here’s what we know about some of these mysterious monoliths that have appeared around the world.
Nevada
The Seven Magic Mountains is a public art installation in the Ivanpah Valley, which is about ten miles south of Las Vegas. This installation in the desert would be the perfect place for strange things to happen. The installation is co-produced with the Nevada Museum of Art, and the large metal object was installed without permission. The foreign object appears to be about 12 feet tall and has a QR code on one side that links to a cryptocurrency website. This makes the monolith seem more like a promotional item than anything truly amazing or wonderful.
Utah
The Utah desert is another ideal location for a remote item to be placed until it’s discovered. A mysterious metal monolith appeared in the desert area in southeastern Utah. This smooth, tall, three-sided structure was located during a helicopter survey in 2020. A crew from the Utah Department of Public Safety and Division of Wildlife Resources saw the gleaming object from the air and landed to check it out. The exact location was remote enough that officials weren’t revealing it publicly because people might get stranded.
Romania
Another of these strange objects appeared on a Romanian hillside only a few days after a similar one disappeared from a desert in Utah. The object was found in the Batca Doamnei Hill in Northern Romania, which prompted the local mayor to put out a statement. The mayor leaned into the possibility of a conspiracy theory, giving way to an appreciation of life visiting our planet from another world. Could this have been the work of aliens?
Australia
Another three-sided metal object appeared in a field at Noarlunga next to the Seaford Train bridge in Australia. This object eventually disappeared a few days later, but it seems to have had stellar coordinates, which might be a message of a location to visit in the stars. If not stellar coordinates, they point to locations on the planet, which makes things a bit unusual. Of course, everything about these mysterious monoliths is unusual and strange. Are these messages from outer space or a massive practical joke being played out on the global stage?
Poland
Another of these strange metal objects appeared on a riverbank in Warsaw, Poland. This seems really strange because it’s in the middle of a city, which is busy and bustling with people. This time, it seems to have a dull surface and is held together by screws. The item appeared in the sand of the riverbank near a major bridge. Some people have expected these monoliths to provide them with some form of metaphysical experience, but that’s not the case. As you would expect, nobody has claimed responsibility for installing these items.
Wales
The Hay Bluff area of Wales was the location of another mysterious monolith sighting. It was discovered by a hiker in the area and fit the same description as the others that appeared around the world. The ground around the item should have had tracks from people installing the structure, but there weren’t any, making it seem as if it was simply placed there by extraterrestrials in a haphazard manner. It may have been placed by helicopter because the remote hill is inaccessible to vehicles on the ground.
Fayetteville
Fayetteville, North Carolina, is home to many members of the United States military, but that didn’t stop one of these metal objects from appearing in a downtown flowerbed. This item looked the same as the others but was only about three feet tall, but it still garnered the attention of many onlookers and visitors in the area. Throughout the day that the item was present, people stopped and took selfies with the item while speculating about the origins of the new monolith. This time, the installation of the item was caught on camera, which put some of the mystery of this monolith to rest.
