Solo Drive – Going Out on the Road Alone

Solo Drive - Going Out on the Road Alone

For the most part, the idea of heading out on a solo road trip by yourself, especially if some off-road travels are needed, is an ill-advised activity. If you do have a travel companion and you know that you only want to take your pickup truck along as the vehicle that you use, it’s possible to be comfortable and has all the items you require without the need to purchase a travel trailer for the living you want to enjoy. Start with a truck cap for the bed of your truck and you’ll be ready to hit the road.

Before you head out on the road you need to make sure you have all the items you’ll want for the adventures. The market is filled with rooftop tents that you can choose and take advantage of, which means you can fill the bed of the truck with more of the items you want to enjoy out on the road. You may want to install some shelves and cubbies in the bed of the truck or set up a pace to have the cooler and keep it secure when you’re out on the road.

If you want to have the power to operate your devices, possibly run a fan and keep electrical items operational when you’re out on the trails you need to have a separate battery ready to offer this power when the truck is parked. You can have a marine battery hooked up to handle the job that is being charged during the day when you’re driving but is the only one you use at night when you park. This will ensure your truck will always start and that you can have the comforts of home with the electronics you need every night while you are solo.

It’s a good idea to take a test run or two to make sure you have everything you need out on the trails and roads where you’re going to travel solo. Look for a nearby campground where you can set up and spend a couple of nights living out of your truck to make sure you have everything you’re going to need when you’re ready to have the adventures that await you out on the roads and trails in your area. Once you know that the truck has everything you’re going to need to go solo, you can load up and get ready for the fun you’ll enjoy.

Solo Road Trip Ready

Now that you’re ready to hit the road on your solo journey, make sure you think about using campgrounds that have public showers and restrooms, along with laundry facilities in order to give you the amenities you can’t actually take with you out on the roads and trails. With your truck set up to go out on the road and give you the lifestyle you want, you won’t need the cumbersome weight and challenges of pulling a trailer with you. This means you’ll have the flexibility to stop along the trails that you enjoy in the wilderness and know you can wake up to the view that you might miss if you were stuck in a campground in a travel trailer each night. Have fun and have some adventures; if you travel alone, be careful out there.
